SUMMARY:Morganton Optimist Race
DESCRIPTION:The Morganton Optimist Soap Box Derby is located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and was founded in 1985 by the Morganton Optimist Club.  We started running the derby in downtown Morganton as part of the July 4th celebration.  It has now moved to a dedicated track at the Burke County Fair Grounds at 145 Bost Road.  Our race is held the 2nd Saturday in May. \nMarylin Waters is the local director and can be reached at 828-443-0407\, email marylin.waters@gmail.com.  Tommy Waters is the assistant local director and can be reached at 828-443-4786 and Johnny Puett at 828-403-1817.
