About Us

Morganton is located in the foothills of North Carolina. We have a dedicated track at the Burke County Fairgrounds located at 145 Bost Road. We hold our race on the second Saturday in May. The Morganton race is sponsored by the Morganton Optimist Club. One of the most important things the club does is working with children. Our main goal is having family fun and building something for the future and what better way to start than with a soap box derby car. Marylin Waters is the local director and can be reached at 828-443-0407. Tommy Waters is the assistant director and Regional Director for Region 12 and he can be reached at 828-443-4786. Also the other contact is Johnny Puett, he can be reached at 828-437-8608. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. We would love for you to race the hill in Morganton.
